NATIONAL INFORMATICS CENTRE - KERALA Launch of KOMPAS Application
‘Kerala Online Mining Permit Awarding Services (KOMPAS)’ was launched on 01st November 2017 in Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam Districts of Kerala. Shri. T Mohana Dhas, SIO Kerala handed over the first Movement Permit to a lessee from Trivandrum at District Mining and Geology Office, Thiruvananthapuram in presence of Shri. Biju Sebastian, Senior Geologist & Nodal Officer, Department of Mining & Geology. The first Movement Permit was approved by Shri. Saji Kumar S, District Geologist and Shri. Raman Namboothiri K N, District Geologist in Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam respectively.
Kerala Online Mining Permit Awarding Services (KOMPAS) is the e-Governance initiative for the Department of Mining and Geology, Government of Kerala for bringing efficiency and transparency to mineral administration in the State. KOMPAS ensures citizen centric, cost effective, and quality electronic service delivery pertaining to mines and minerals in the State. In the initial phase of implementation of KOMPAS, stakeholders can avail following services:
- Submission of online application for mineral movement permits.
- e-Payment of application fee, royalty and other payments.
- Online tracking of status of processing of applications.
- Online generation of ePass.
- Online filing of Returns.
- Dashboard for stakeholders including Lease / Permit holders.
KOMPAS ensures transparency, by providing statistics of mineral concessions in the State, particulars of mineral concessions and documents submitted for availing concessions, locations of working mines, quarries, crushers and dealers, information on mineral availability, to public. KOMPAS also provides information pertaining to genuineness of ePass, permits/licenses to other regulatory agencies like Police, Land Revenue authorities of the State. A Google map based service provides location-specific information about the mining entities, quarries, and related information to public and other stakeholders.
